Recently members of civil society created a People’s Tribunal on Economic Crime in South Africa. This group urges members of the public to submit information to be presented at the first hearings of the tribunal in November this year. The organisations involved include Right2know, Open Secrets, Corruption Watch and Human Rights amongst others. According to these formations, failure of state institutions to fully investigate allegations of corruption and state capture has compelled them to make this call. Michael Marchant, Researcher at Open Secrets joins us on this.
